Signing the Glasgow 850 Interfaith Declaration
Signing the Glasgow 850 Interfaith Declaration

At a special gathering at Glasgow City Chambers during Scottish Interfaith Week 2025, representatives from across Glasgow’s faith and belief communities marked the city’s 850th anniversary with the launch of the Glasgow 850 Interfaith Declaration—a unifying statement of shared values and commitments to build a more just, inclusive, and compassionate Glasgow.

Representing the Jewish Council of Scotland were Timothy Lovat, Chair and Carmen McPherson, Director, who were delighted to be present as Rabbi Moshe Rubin, Senior Rabbi of Scotland added his signature to the Glasgow 850 Interfaith Declaration on behalf of Scottish Jewry.

The declaration was also signed by senior representatives from across Glasgow’s diverse communities, with Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Councillor Jacqueline McLaren, as witness. The Glasgow 850 Declaration sets out a shared vision for the city’s future—committing its supporters to nurture understanding across faiths and worldviews; work together for equality, peace, and climate justice; welcome refugees; and challenge prejudice in all its forms.
